So you're having a baby soon and you are thinking about that gentle and homely newborn photoshoot to photograph you and your little one in your newborn bubble. At home newborn photoshoots are cosy and intimate. Every photoshoot feels unique, as the photos are taken in the comfort of your own home. Your safe space.

You may have a few questions running through your mind about how these photoshoots work. So let's reassure you, that this is the photoshoot for you with some FAQs answered for you below.

1. Do I need a lot of space and an aesthetically pleasing home?

   
   

    This is one of the biggest worries and mis conceptions about these photoshoots. The short answer is no, you do not need a lot of space and one of those aesthetically pleasing homes. Your photoshoot can be done in one corner of your home with good lighting. A lot of the photos taken are the close-up intimate moments. I know babies and children come with a lot of stuff and clutter. I'm not here to judge your home. I use my experience of crafting with natural light and a variety of different spaces to get the best out of the space in your home.

2. What do I actually need in my home for the photoshoot?

   
   

   All that is needed is some natural window light. My photography style specialises in using only natural light, so when arriving at your home this will be the first thing I will be looking for. Usually the two rooms in your home with the best natural lighting will be used. I have blankets and newborn outfits I bring along to every session that can be used in your photoshoot if you wish.

   
   

3. Is there anything I can do to prepare for the photoshoot?

   
   

   Before I arrive for your photoshoot, have all your curtains and blinds open so I can observe the natural light in your home when getting there. Have some neutral coloured bedding on your bed, rather than some bright coloured prints. That is about it, not much at all.

   
   

4. Can my dog be included in our photoshoot?

   
   

   YES!! One of the best parts of these home photoshoots is that if you would like your dog included in some family photos with your newborn, your dog can be easily included. Being in the comfort of your own home, makes it more comfortable and relaxing for your dog. Therefor a lot easier to include them in some photos.

   
   

5. How do these photoshoots flow?

   
   

   So I work on a completely baby and child led approach at photoshoots. This means if your baby needs feeding or changing, plenty of time is allowed for this. If your child needs a snack, we can have a snack break. Generally, if baby is content and happy we will start with some family photos in the chosen room with the best natural lighting (usually the main living area). We will the move on to the second room in your house (usually main bedroom). This is where more of the close-up intimate photos are taken.
